Matthew B. Cox
MATTHEW B. COX is a former con man whose elaborate forgeries and use of stolen and synthetic identities helped him defraud America’s largest banks out of roughly $55 million. Once atop the Secret Service’s most wanted list, he evaded the FBI and U.S. Marshals for three years while living a life of deception and luxury around the world.
CNBC’s American Greed dubbed him “one of the most prolific mortgage fraud con artists of all time,” and Bloomberg Businessweek called him “the mortgage industry’s worst nightmare.” Lead federal prosecutor Gale McKenzie admitted, “The guy was good, very good… He made millions and millions.”
Cox earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida and now lives in Tampa with his wife.
